Headlight Lens

While the headlight lens I received is perfectly adequate, an absolute clone of the original, I wish the whole kit ; lens, clips, gasket was included. The whole disaster should never have happened, a pot holed road caused the chrome bezel to pop loose, sending the whole headlight assembly flying, destroying the glass lens. It was hoped that an improved lens, composed of, say, Lexan, would have become available since 1975, when this bike first hit the showroom floor. Alas, the replacement is still a heavy glass, so do whatever you can to ensure it’s mounted securely. for me, this meant covering the outside lands completely with transparent Gorilla Tape, creating a defacto safety glass. Then, I augmented the too-thin lens gasket with thicker, cushier gasket material available from your local auto parts store. Finally, I drilled two tiny holes on either side of the chrome bezel, and added two very small short retaining screws, now, the headlight bucket only opens when I want it to.
