This is a brand new replacement starter, not a re-built part. VALEO is the original equipment supplier to BMW and this starter is identical to the original starter in every way.

This starter has a 9 nine tooth drive shaft and fits the R80 G/S, R80 ST, R100 R, R100 GS and it also fits all other 2 Valve Twins beginning with the 1975 model year. This is a perfect replacement for the Bosch starter that was original equipment on earlier models.
