    Handlebars, US Version Bend

This is a reproduction of the classic "US" style handlebar that was installed on most USA /5 and /6 models. It has a very pleasant bend and provides most riders with a comfortable, upright seating position.

    Made in Germany.

Note: This is a 22mm chrome plated bar, not a 7/8" bar. 22mm is the correct size for BMW motorcycles and though 7/8"seems close to 22mm, it's in fact slightly larger and the controls will not fit.

This handlebar is not drilled for heated grips. You can still install heated grips but you will need to drill the appropriate holes.

NOT An Exact Or Simple Bolt-On Replacement For 1972 R60/5
Appear to be good quality bars, but quite a bit different from my 1972 R60/5 's original bars, especially the top bend. As another /5 owner observed, the ends of the bars are significantly thicker (cut-off technique and chrome plating thickness?), thereby necessitating alteration. In my case I measured 22.32-22.36 mm OD at the very ends and 22.06-22.08 inwards of that. The original bars were actually slightly less than 22 mm coming in around 21.9 or less (badly pitted). So, I had to grind down the last 1/4" to 3/8" at the bar ends, and really 'spread' the slots in the perches to get them on. I ultimately cut-off the last 3/8" on each bar end as I had to slide my perches inwards/upwards due to the length of the wiring and throttle/clutch/brake cables -- all original stock length and a bit too short. This shortening of the bars was also required to properly fit the closed-end Magura grips I also purchased. The bars do look nice though, and my daughter - who is going to be using the bike - likes the slightly different riding posture they produce.

    US R75/6
Great quality bars and looked great. I liked the knurling for the clamps which made lining them up easy. Unfortunately, the wiring on my US R75/6 wouldn't reach the control perches. I had to really stretch the wiring for the lights/horn and turn signals/starter and wasn't comfortable putting that stress on the old wiring. I opted for a set of shorter Euro bars instead.

    Perfect fit
I put these on mr 1978 R80/7. They went right on without any issues and the controls slid on perfectly first time. Not sure why others had an issue, but these were perfect. Changed the handling and comfort of my bike alot. I was using the Euro bars which were not as wide or deep. Highly Recommend

    Perfect fit
I purchased some euro sport bars initially for my R80/7 rebfurb and rode with them for a few years. But I noticed that on long tour rides, my arms and back would get sore from the forward lean. I purchased these touring bars and just installed them. What a huge difference. Perfect fit and heighth. No need to extend my factory wire loom. throttle and all controls fit as they were meant too. If you are looking for a more upright riding position on your /5/6/7. then these are the bars for you

    Slightly too thick
These are good quality handlebars that are a very close (but not perfect) match to the original US bars on my 1973 R60/5. Unfortunately, they are a little thicker than the stock handlebars near the bar ends where they are a bit more than the 22 mm. I suspect this is due to some deformation when they were cut, but this is just a guess. To fit my controls, some filing/sanding was required. Once this was done, they look great on the bike.
