The instrument lighting system was a problem, even when the bikes were a few years old. Now after 30 - 40 or more years, even more so! Replacement parts are no longer available from BMW.

The LEDs are brighter than the original bulbs and were designed to be easily visible in direct sunlight. The alternator charging light has a resistor built in so that the charging system will work properly and more reliably.
