Shifter Linkage
This linkage a high quality reproduction, and unlike the replacement part from BMW, this part includes the ball studs, nuts, washers, seals and safety clips. It is an ideal retrofit and replacement for the original wire linkage of early 5 speeds from /7 through 1984 and a great replacement for corroded or worn out linkages.
Comparable to BMW part number 23 41 7 714 804
Note: When replacing the original wire type linkage with this part, it will be necessary to enlarge the holes in the shifter levers to 6mm.

Fantastic update. I swear it shifts less like a tractor, and with the adjustable linkage no more foot cramps. Another item matched up (kinda) with the Monoshock incase I need to do some swapsies.
Pieced together a linkage kit for the '77 R100/7 which was stock direct shift. This mated right up to the shift arm which was already loaded with a ball joint. Pop out the retaining clip, small tug and the joint pops out, lube it up, seat it home on the lever and put the clip back in place. As mentioned in other reviews the shift levers do need to be slightly drilled out to fit the linkage bolts, nothing major.
As noted in another review, use blue thread locker on the linkage bolts/nuts to the shifter levers, lost a nut in Alaska.

I purchased this due to the fact that I could not shift from one gear to the next. I thought the original bent wire unit had suffered as a result of the bike being knocked over by a falling Maple tree limb. I was wrong, upon installing this new (far more flexible link) there was no change. I need to dig deeper.

I'm getting backup parts. Original shifter linkage is serviceable. Well made and should last for years in the plastic bag it came in. This will sit in the tool kit until needed.
