Battery Monitor V2 For Smart Phone

With the JMP Battery Monitor II and free Apple or Android app you will be able to check the charge status of your battery quickly and easily. Making sure that the battery levels do not drop prevents possible early damage or failure of the battery.

Additionally, since the app is continuous recording, the state of charge of the battery is detected during trips and can also be recalled later. The file containing the data can be sent by email from the smartphone and displayed in Excel. So you can quickly see where the charging voltage has fallen or was too high. A faulty controller can be quickly recognized.

The app can also be used to check boot procedures (starters, cable connections, etc.) and charging processes (alternator, cables, etc.). This saves long troubleshooting in case of problems. Low battery or other issues may alert the driver depending on the setting in the app options. After simply attaching to the battery using eyelets and downloading the new Android or Apple app, the current voltage value can be retrieved.

I have some charging issue with my 83 R65LS, which I'm being real lazy about properly diagnosing. I bought this initially thinking it would just let me monitor voltage drop over time without having to pop the seat and poke the battery with a multimeter, but in fact the device+app provides cranking and charging tests. Cranking test shows cranking voltage (and it sounds like simply says GOOD/POOR at a 9.6V threshold). Charging test has you start the engine, turn off all devices, but leave headlight on -- though I haven't tried this yet (I told you I'm lazy about diagnosing my problem). Also worth noting, this painlessly paired via bluetooth with my iPhone, no problems at all here. I just followed the included printed instructions on downloading the app and pairing. For $43 this seems like a hell of a device -- I ordered around the same time a digital battery load tester for 1.5x the price of this, and that's something I gotta hook up each time, and it's sure not gonna talk to my phone.
