VAPE 12V Alternator Conversion 20mm

The VAPE (pronounced VaahPeh) is a top quality, European product that will “modernize” the electrical systems on your classic BMW, providing improved reliability, performance as well as passive and active safety. This set will replace the entire charging system with reliable, modern components, and also upgrade your bike’s electrical system from 6 to 12 Volts.

The set consists of a complete 12V system including Rotor, Stator, Regulator, and other hardware, completely replacing the stock 6V alternator (including diode plate and regulator). Additionally, there is no need for changes to the engine casing. This D/C system will run head lights, tail lights, turn signals and charge the battery. It is a magnet based alternator with integrated solid state ignition; output at 12V/150W DC. The alternator is brushless, so there are no parts to wear out, making this system maintenance free.

If you already have installed a breakerless ignition system on your classic BMW¹ or if you are otherwise satisfied with your ignition but would like to add the advantages of a brushless charging system, then this is set is the perfect solution.

Please Note:

Does not support existing electronic revolution counter, rev-meter/tachometer
You will need tool number 8871114 to remove the original rotor and if you ever need to remove the VAPE rotor in the future, you will also need puller 999979900
You will either need a 12 volt battery or you have the option driving without a battery
Remember to change those 6 Volt bulbs with 12 volt bulbs (See Related Products), and install a 12V horn
Regarding the headlight, you can simply replace the original 6 Volt headlight bulb with a BA20D 12 Volt bulb or, you can upgrade your headlight components to H4!
