VAPE /6, /7 107mm Alternator Set
The VAPE (pronounced VaahPeh) is a top quality, European product that
will “modernize” the electrical systems on your classic BMW, providing
improved reliability, performance as well as passive and active safety.
This set will replace the entire charging system with
reliable, modern components.
The set consists of a complete
system
including Rotor, Stator, Regulator, and other hardware, completely replacing the stock 12V alternator (including diode plate and regulator). Additionally, there is no need
for changes to the engine casing. This
D/C system will run head lights, tail lights, turn signals and charge
the battery. It is a magnet based alternator with integrated solid state
ignition; output at 12V/190W DC. The alternator is brushless, so there
are no parts to wear out, making this system maintenance free.

- Pre-assembled Stator Unit
- Flywheel (rotor)
- Regulator/Rectified
- Rotor bolts M8 with washer
- Three M5 screws
- Installation cables/hardware
- Does not require changes on crankcase or any other permanent modifications
- Maintenance free, reliable brushless Alternator and elimination of the vulnerable diode board and voltage regulator.
If you already have installed a breakerless ignition system on your
classic BMW2 or if you are otherwise satisfied with your ignition but
would like to add the advantages of a brushless charging system, then this
is set is the perfect solution.
Please Note:
1The diameter of the original alternator stator was changed from 105mm to 107mm in 09/75. If you are unsure which version you have, we suggest removing the alternator stator and carefully measuring the diameter across the part of the stator that makes contact with and is fitted to the timing cover.
- Does not support existing electronic revolution counter, rev-meter/tachometer
- Only 190 watts, which is more than adequate but less electric power than the stock alternator
- You will need tool number 1231699 to remove the original rotor and if you ever need to remove the VAPE rotor in the future, you will also need puller 999979900
